Day 18/180: Curriculum Table Tents

Remember sitting at your kitchen table way back when...staring bleary eyed at a cereal box and chomping on your favorite morning treat? Working the puzzles on the back of the box was one of my favorite morning rituals.

Today's post is a spin off of that childhood memory...curriculum table tents. Table tents are always well received at our school. Students frequently try to solve the "puzzles" as they eat their lunch.

The tent today focuses on ratios which are covered on 7th through 12th grade standardized assessments. Questions were generated from released test items from the iLEAP and ACT, as well as, a sample item for PARCC. Next time I may have prizes... that always seems to generate enthusiasm.

Day 17/180: So Thankful for Community Partners

What a pleasant surprise I had today when our local Sonic Drive In stopped by the front office loaded down with colorful cups stuffed full of coupons for freebies and a gift card!

We are so thankful for community partners! (And yes that is my thank you note peeking from its envelope). Hope your Wednesday was filled with an unexpected blessing too!

Day 16/180: Grade Level Team Meetings

Several years ago, we began grade level team meetings to ensure that no student was overlooked.  These monthly meetings are held during the day and students' attendance, behavior, grades, and social/emotional well being are considered.  We have had great success and made numerous interventions through the years.

We hosted our first meetings today for teachers of 7th and 9th grade students during which we discussed grade level team expectations, student progress, and the acclimation of new students.
